What Is Corduroy Fabric?

Corduroy Fabric, or 灯芯绒, is a woven cut-pile fabric with raised lengthwise ribs called wales. The pile is generally formed from weft floats that are cut and finished to produce the ribbed face. Wale count is the number of ribs per inch: higher counts create finer cords, while lower counts create broader cords. Cotton is common, but polyester, viscose and spandex may be added for durability, drape, cost control or stretch.
